About BioPat
Initiatives

Nigeria's first integrated circular bioeconomy platform, pioneering sustainable waste valorisation, renewable energy, and food security in Enugu State, Southeast Nigeria since 2024.

Our Story

Born from a Region's
Greatest Challenges

BioPat Initiatives was founded in response to three converging crises confronting Southeast Nigeria: an unmanaged waste emergency, a deepening energy deficit, and the accelerating decline of the region's agricultural productivity.

Founded by Michael Agbowo, Aniekan Usoroh, and Asma Gatri, BioPat Initiatives is a subsidiary of MPAT General Services, incorporated in Nigeria and headquartered in Enugu State, the geographic gateway linking Anambra, Abia, Imo, and Ebonyi States.

The founding team recognised that these three crises share a single systemic root: the absence of integrated infrastructure that treats organic waste not as a problem to be disposed of, but as a resource to be valorised. BioPat was designed from the ground up to be that infrastructure.

"We are not building a waste plant. We are building a circular economy, one where every tonne of waste becomes an input, and every output becomes a new beginning."

Michael Agbowo, Founder and Project Director

The project has completed its Pre-Feasibility Study, Business Plan, and Concept Note, and is currently advancing Phase 1 project preparation with a target funding close of Q4 2026.

A sustainability entrepreneur and circular economy innovator, Michael founded MPAT General Services, a general contracting firm delivering cleaning, facility management, and real estate services across Southeast Nigeria. Through direct operational experience managing waste streams across the region, he identified the structural failure of Southeast Nigeria's waste management system and, through rigorous self-directed research, designed BioPat Initiatives as the solution. He leads the platform's overall strategy, blended finance structuring, DFI engagement, and institutional partnership development, bringing not a conventional pedigree but the rare clarity and determination to build what others only observe.

Why Enugu State

The Strategic Heart of
Southeast Nigeria

Enugu State is the most strategically positioned location in Southeast Nigeria for an integrated circular bioeconomy platform of this scale.

Known historically as Nigeria's first energy-producing region, Enugu State sits at the geographic centre of the Southeast geopolitical zone, providing BioPat with feedstock access across a region of over 21 million people. Its tropical savanna climate, laterite soils, and proximity to five state capitals make it the optimal anchor for circular agricultural and industrial systems at scale.

Enugu's forward-looking REDSEM renewable energy framework, proximity to ESUT and UNN for workforce partnerships, and established EIDC industrial infrastructure make it the natural home for Nigeria's first circular bioeconomy platform.
